Dr. Koumjian has been the leading provider of optometry services and vision care products in Watertown since 1981. Watertown Eye was voted “Best for Contact Lenses” in 2018 Best of Watertown Awards and overall “Best Eye Care Professional” in 2018 Best of Watertown survey.

Dr. Koumjian also offers complementary vision screenings for infants up to 18 months through the InfantSee program and examines patients in developing countries at no cost via Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity.

Dr. Karen L. Koumjian
Dr. Karen Koumjian graduated from Smith College with a major in neuroscience. She was one of the first students to make this a major. It became the foundation for her interest in optometry. She then received her doctorate in optometry from the New England Eye Institute, where she was a member of Beta Sigma Kappa honor society. She then opened her practice in 1981. Dr. Koumjian was the first female President of the Massachusetts Society of Optometrists. She also served as a board member and then President of Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity. She conducts eye exams in developing countries once per year. Past trips have included Armenia, Guatemala, and Nicaragua. Dr. Koumjian enjoys playing the cello, dancing, and taking care of her family, including her dog Holly.
Nicole Chase graduated from the University of Massachusetts – Boston in 2017 with a degree in Biology. As Dr. Koumjian’s Optometric Assistant, Nicole anticipates and meets patients’ needs. Nicole plans to eventually attend optometry school. She enjoys walking her handsome son (er, dog) Duncan.
Peter is the Insurance Eligibility Specialist at Watertown Eye Associates. He ensures that patients will not need to make large financial sacrifices to receive high quality eye care. He graduated from American University and earned a Medical Office Administrative Assistant Certificate from MassBay Community College. Peter enjoys cooking, telling jokes, and learning Armenian as a second language.
Optometric Technician, Stephanie Berman, heard about Watertown Eye through her cousin, Nicole Chase! She comes to Watertown Eye from teaching at the YMCA. Stephanie enjoys caring for her two children.
Dee Kouyoumjian is Dr. Koumjian’s Accounting Specialist as well as her aunt! Dee comes to Watertown Eye from working as a travel agent at American Express and has brought with her a strong sense of focus. She enjoys discussing current events.
